Eastbay Osteo was founded by Houman (“HOO-MAN”) Haddadi, a registered Osteopath with a keen interest in functional movement and performance. Having experienced the benefits and effectiveness of osteopathy first-hand, Houman believes that improvement in musculoskeletal system can have a large positive impact on other body systems which helps to treat and improve health conditions.
At the age of 19, Houman came to New Zealand as an international student in Health Science in 2004. Houman’s parents supported him and his brother from home because they wanted a better future for their sons. To provide assistance to his parents, Houman worked as a part-time kitchen hand which led him to pursue a course in culinary and helped him obtain New Zealand residency.
Houman’s career in osteopathy started when he found interest in understanding how the human body works. Employing a holistic approach to identify and address the main contributing factor or factors to each patient’s complaint, the life style, occupation, physiological and psychological elements are taken into consideration. For acute and chronic conditions, Houman provides strategies to reduce the risk of any potential injuries and offers various techniques to suit each individual. Houman also studied Western Medical Acupuncture (WMA) in order to further help his patients.
As an osteopath, Houman’s experiences include working with sports teams and in osteopathy clinics in Orewa and West Auckland, providing assistance to a wide range of patients including athletes, office workers and older adults.
Since Houman first came to New Zealand, he has come a long way in pursuing what he wants, his dreams and goals in life, giving the same hard work and dedication to helping patients achieve their health goals. Aside from his osteopathic practice, Houman is a professional chef/barista and co-owns a cafe with his brother. He also likes to spend time doing outdoor activities with friends such as exploring beautiful sceneries in Auckland and playing soccer twice a week. He has also participated in various sporting events/competitions and did his first Auckland marathon in 2012.

M.Ost, B.AppSci (HumBio), ACC & OCNZ Registered
Matthew has worked in allied health for over 25 years in New Zealand, Australia, the UK and the States. Suffering a serious injury whilst snowboarding in his early twenties, he sought out treatment to solve his excruciating back pain. This journey led Matthew to train in sports massage and body therapies at the New Zealand College of Massage in Auckland. Whilst working in a large multi-disciplinary clinic in London alongside osteopaths he was exposed to the philosophy and treatment approach of osteopathy. The osteopathic approach resonated strongly with Matthew and he had a great response to osteopathic care. He decided to return to New Zealand and further his studies at Unitec Institute of Technology.
After graduating from the Unitec master of osteopathy programme, Matthew completed his cranial osteopathy training at the world renowned Osteopathic Center for Children in San Diego under Dr Viola Frymann DO and further post-graduate studies in the cranial, fascial, and respiratory treatment approach of Dr Robert Fulford DO in Oregon. Matthew has been active in teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing professional education level for 20 years. He is currently a clinical tutor on the master of osteopathy programme at Unitec.
Matthew can utilise a wide range of manual therapy techniques in your treatment depending on your preference and nature of your particular condition, from gentle cranial and functional approaches to myofascial release and manipulation.
Whilst living in New York, Matthew was inspired by the NYC marathon to start running and has gone on to race in distances from the mile to the marathon to 90km road ultra-marathons. Matthew is a Accredited Coach with Athletics NZ and enjoys working with people to recover and avoid injury and reach their best performance in sports.
When not in clinic, Matthew can be found running around the Eastern Bays, tending to his veggie garden, and spending time with his two young children and wife Emma.
